Trio of DFIs to co-invest in 50-MW solar project in Sierra Leone

The solar project, called Planet Solar, is being developed by Frontier Energy and Dubai-based diversified group Planet One. When completed, the facility is expected to save 53,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

The Renewable Energy Directorate of the Ministry of Energy is responsible for the formulation, development and implementation of the renewable energy strategy.

Planet One Group

Planet One signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and the Ministry of Energy (Sierra Leone) to own and operate a 50 MW solar plant across Makoth, Port Loko, Bo and Kono.
